
At some point, making a nice thing became suspicious unless you could also sell it. A cake became a potential side hustle. A sketch became a content strategy. Enjoyment was asked to submit a quarterly forecast.
But there is a particular freedom in making something without an audience. It can be crooked. It can be weird. It can take far too long.
A hobby does not owe you revenue, recognition, or an origin story for a future interview. It can simply owe you a nice Tuesday.
Make the thing. Keep the thing. Give the thing away. Resist the urge to turn its tiny spark into an administrative department.
